Porgies, Bluefish & Striped Bass seasons are coming up and they are plentiful in the Long Island Sound. Plus open charter (ie. party) boats are easy to come by and no equipment needed. I'd be down for a DR fishing trip in the NYC area.

Though I love where I live, I really miss NY. I have some friends coming over from New Zealand in August maybe we will all make a trip out that way. They love NY too!
