Having at one time hunted morah vines in around that same level, my advice would be to add more armor and stock up on favors. The Kuniyo altar that requires only a blood wolf pelt and doesn't require cleaning is a godsend in this respect.
This could pull you towards the darkside, though, as I'm now a full-fledged member of Hanryu's leather coat posse.

That posse is growing. I've been a member for a long time now.

Hahaha. I have posse?
For notes @ ~375 in leather and mech I was able to make superior reinforced serpent leathers and superb reinforced garg. Shooting for 400 in each and I'll try both skins again.
NB: my leather mech have always been neck and neck, so I that's what I'm going on. Also my skinning has always been at least 50 to 100 ranks over mech/leather since that matters also.
Better than store-bought (at least for hindrance and weight) starts to happen with gloves around 250. You pick up cowls at 300ish (maybe a bit more), and coats in that same region. Thick leathers @350. Shields @ 250 mech/shield, and bucklers at >325. I think I'm capping medium shields now (400 shield/375 mech).

I tried bucklers back when I hit 300 shield and had a tiny bit over 200 mech. I was able to get capped protection on them, though I'm not sure how they compared to capped as far as weight. It looks like your numbers might be a bit high, especially on the mech side.
If someone wants to get me perfect skins I'd be more than willing to take part in some testing to narrow down the ranges for everything.

I appreciate the ML rank info. Is there a website or something that tracks that? I can't seem to find much detailed info on it like I can for fletching or foraging/alchemy. Most of the tanning/forging stuff seems to focus on the final product (which is great info!) but not the creation/build up process.
I'm low enough down the rung I can probably build my own as I go and catch darn near everything. It'll be a long time before my ML hits the 300+ range.

You're probably right. Capped for croc is 34 stones I think. I wasn't diligent about trying every 5 ranks or anything but my memory is telling me 290ish wasn't enough, but 320 was, so I was just ballparking it.
>I can't seem to find much detailed info on it [tanning]
I think this is because the formula is not known (like it is for forging) and contains 3 variables (leather/shield, mech and skinning) and who knows on stats. So most data is like mine, "back in my day I remember this..." and then we mis-remember or just plain forget!
Long story short, if you're into making your own gear, anytime after the early 200s is a good time to start trying stuff.

i can attest to this. i have been making my own gear since just round 200 mech/leather/shield. didnt do so hot on most things then, but have made steady progress as i am closing in on 300. i can get perfects on some accessories, and superbs on some coats, etc. of course it depends on the skin as well. usualy im shootin for a middle to high ranged skin.

Backtraining Disarm/Lockpick

Well, I'm going to buckle up and backtrain disarming/lockpicking. I've got a bit over 100 disarm/lockpick ranks, my combats are in the 300's. My stats are Agility 50 and Discipline 50 (the relevant ones) and I've WoTP and CS for lockpicking/disarming buffs. What would you suggest I go for to power the ranks up another 100 ranks to 200, so I can start doing stuff around my own level? If I can hunt something that would train some weapons in the mid-high 100's and low 200's that would be great, because then I'll backtrain them as well.

First tier snow goblins or gypsy marauders
Right now the Moon Mage place on the "combat pet totem pole" is the part that's sunk into the earth to lower the pole's center of gravity.

Agreed to start with. You might even get away with second tier snoblins with your stats and guild: That's what Ryeka used for training purposes at that skill level, and she's a cleric.
Good luck!

Do the 3rd level Nipoh Oshu's train combat's in the 300's? Just curious since they're in the area, so maybe I can keep my combats moving. Never hunted them myself and Elanthipedia doesn't mention what they top out at.

I would ride the Kree and backtrain weapons in the 100-200 rank range while you are collecting the plentiful boxes.

Swamp trolls have a really low box drop rate. I'd go with snoblins. With the 3 tiers, you play around a bit with easier or harder boxes.
Not sure how high Nipoh Oshu's train exactly, but definitely into 300s.

True, get a LOT more boxes killing other stuff. The new clay things near the rakash area might work well too, now that I think about it.
The undead swarms were awesome sources of boxes... Sad to see them go, considering my luck with box drops :(

My favorite creatures in the world and yes, they do teach in the 300s. Second tier oshus still mind lock 301 in evasion as survival primary while killing them nonstop.
