Playing devils advocate here (I haven't been playing a thief long enough to complain about development...least not compared to people that have been playing for years).

If a concept is true, arguing about the palatability of it's presentation is just expressing your own insecurity.

"When the wise man points to the moon, only a fool looks at his finger."

Chinese proverb

A simple. "I agree but tone it down." Would have done wonders here.

People will find you just as tedious and boring to talk to at 1000 ranks as they did at 100.

Inferring a position based upon what someone insinuated about a post is a very insecure position for you to take. I never once said I agree with MRAUDIO, only that I understand why they would have that view.

There was not a single true concept in those posts other than the measuring contest of how long we've been playing this text mess. Pointing out how much you like a single merchant and single khri, while ignoring everything else done before and after, is just blind. The simple fact is there has been development, and there have been new merchants. Maybe not in the year and a half since Fade, but isn't that exactly what Guildfest is for? Being a spoil-sport before the game even starts is just childish and lacking of tact or manners. Simple truth, and we can all admit this.

I understand that some things may not have been significant enough to some individual players to make a blip on their radar, but that really isn't what is important. Maybe some self-absorbed and egotistical people would wish that, but it's really not the ball of yarn I like to play with. Moreso, I would hate to let anyone ever get the impression that this type of arrogance and rude behavior is something to be tolerated or accepted. It's not.

Finally, I'll say that the palatability of the presentation of a view is paramount to its acceptance by those who you wish to motivate or inspire by it. If your words can be easily dismissed as angst ranting, you can bet that nobody really heard you. You kill them with kindness not with insults.

So basically you're saying complaints are only valid when presented in a manner you find acceptable. One of the reasons I stopped playing DR years ago was due to the attitude of many of the forum posters, who turned this game into "Arrogancerealms". Some of you are doing it right, some of you are still doing it.

No, I'm saying that the presentation of opinion was offensive and the claims were unfounded. Afterwards, I did just what I was told and dug the folder for a ton of points to show that: Yes, there has been development. Following that, I continued to point out how a bad attitude, insults, and lack of tact are horrible tools to enact change.

How did you get that from that? Let me simplify it myself for you. In order for someone to accept what you are saying and perhaps even be inspired by it, you have to say it in a manner which they can understand. It's not about me or even them its more about us and how we interact with each other here. Being foul or crude just for the sake of it and have little actual facts to support it, is just lame.

I think it's less about being seen as valid and more about being read.

I mean, let's be honest here.

If someone goes up to you and yells "YOU SUCK!," do you tend to care what they're going to say after? Or are you going to either instantly ignore them or go on the offensive?

Because I tend to go straight to "Oh, this person is an idiot. Do I poke fun, ignore them, or both?"

Regrettably, as of late I've been the type to be like...

"Oh, this person is an idiot. Do they know that they are being an idiot?"

I guess I'm just at a really good point in my life and feeling very positive. I don't like confrontation but I can't stand rude people or childish behavior.

We all know what I want you to pick, so make it Annwyl Day and pick option 2, ignore.
