It appears that this is related to being in standing position versus kneel, laying, sitting. Crawl hole will kneel before the hole, then crawl hole again will actually go through the hole. Not sure if that was intended or not. Crawl direction will error out from standing. Crawl while not in standing will move.

I didn't know you could fail to kneel from standing.
