I just wanted to let y'all know I hit a milestone yesterday in passing my PhD defense (in applied mathematics). So once I fill out some paper work and wait until the end of the semester, I'll be officially done with grad school. :)
GS has been one of my favorite ways of staying sane throughout the whole process, so thanks for making the game fun to play and work on. (I'm not planning on leaving, BTW, if that sentence kinda made it sound like it.) Hopefully I'll see some of y'all at the con next week!

"PhD .. (in applied mathematics)" -- The Learned One
So as I understand it, you can now prove that 2 + 2 == 5 (for sufficiently large values of 2)?

Indeed. It's an asymptotic result. ;)

Congratulations, Oscuro!
Applied Math--I'm currently trying to regain some of my facility with math after quite a few years of inactivity and have lately been cursing over a text on Complex Variables and Applications.
Math is fun--but falling out of practice in anything can be tough.

The same is true for sufficiently small values of 5 as well as certain types of "+" operations.

And here I thought that applied math was for people not smart enough for a Physics degree, and not sufficiently theoretical for a pure math degree.
Of course, I say this with my BS in Physics, knowing that I will never get an advanced degree in either math or physics.
Congrats, by the way

Naah, just for the people that want to do something useful with math. ;)

Nice job, Oscuro. Lots of work and still GMing like crazy. I'm quite impressed. Feel free to get a little sleep now that you graduated.

Mreh? You ever taken a chemistry class?
