Now I've always just accepted this as how things were, but it's finally gotten to me and I must ask why!
Why can't you empty the contents of one container into another container while standing in front of your open locker?
I mean really, I use my locker as a dressing room. Why must I switch items one at a time while at my locker but right outside I can use the EMPTY verb? It makes just no sense to me.

This is just a guess, but I gather that the EMPTY verb is pretty resource-intense, and the coding for lockers has been said to be OLD. Probably rebuilding the locker code to permit EMPTY and manifests from within without eating items may be more resource-intense, staff-wise, than we really want.

Coding on the lockers is very old, and I suspect so deeply buried that no programming GMs want to mess with it for fear of breaking them totally.
